Environmentally friendly fuels
Bio fuel and less less emissions of harmful gases
Thermobile sees an increasing demand for heaters that can comply with future legislation in the field of fuels with fossil origin. In Norway, a ban on fossil fuels for certain sectors will come into effect on 01/01/2022 and it is currently already prohibited to use fossil fuels in, for example, the construction sector in metropolitan areas. The legislation in the northern European countries will increasingly focus on reducing fossil fuels, especially in those sectors where our heaters are used.
HVO
For this reason, more and more customers are looking for alternative options to meet the future demand for hot air for construction sites, events and other projects. Electric heaters, electric boiler systems or pellet heater systems can perfectly replace diesel heaters in many situations. However, if larger capacity is required, the options become much more limited for mobile systems; too small capacity or too complex to set up without being mobile. The choice for companies is limited.
At present, the production techniques for alternative fuels are already very advanced and these products are generally seen as excellent substitutes for fossil fuels. The most promising at the moment is HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) since it does not infringe the food chain and because this fuel is very clean and has at least the same characteristics and qualities as the regular diesel of fossil origin. Because Thermobile attaches great importance to the needs of the customer, now and in the future, we have extensively tested HVO with our heaters for a longer period and we can currently confirm that HVO can be used without limitation as fuel for Thermobile heaters; this applies to the entire range of stoves that we produce.
HVO complies with the ISCC and EN590 standards, in mixtures with a higher percentage up to 100% also with ISCC and EN15940.
FAME
Another alternative on the market, so-called FAME or biodiesel, is currently being blended with B7 diesel for 7% or B10 (10% FAME maximum). This fuel has a negative effect on the functioning of our heaters if the percentage is greater than 10%. In mixtures with a higher FAME percentage, seals and hoses are affected and nozzles become clogged. A new type of filter is also needed as FAME attracts water and causes pollution. At the same time, growth of microbiological organisms is possible in FAME, so the storage of this fuel can reduce quality. Finally, Thermobile recommends that mixtures with a percentage higher than 10% FAME should not be used as fuel for our heaters.
GTL
A third alternative as a replacement for the conventional diesel is GTL. GTL is a liquid fuel made from natural gas, burns cleaner than conventional diesel from petroleum, and therefore produces fewer local emissions and smoke. GTL is also odorless and colorless. We also tested this fuel in our heaters. GTL can be applied to all Thermobile heaters 1 to 1 without having to make any adjustments.
We are convinced that with this solution we will be able to meet the possible wishes of your customers if they have wishes with regard to the reduction of fossil fuels. It also allows you to fully utilize the capacities of the Thermobile heaters.
